We live in a society where children are easily get entertained in any electronic devices like T.V, Laptops, etc. can contribute in this problem. As we
all know children’s have the most important role in this world. Because they
are the ones who can change the world in the near future. But if they don’t
know they are the ones who can change the nation, what will happen on our
society and if they get tired of studying? They wanted to do is laying down on
their bed.
When children says that they’re bored, parents, often jump in to try to solve the problem. Parent's rushing too quickly to help their children to overcome their boredom.
Now a days children have more toys to ward off boredom than ever before. And these toys, with all their car toys, barbie dolls are more sophisticated that toys available to earlier generations.
As I found this article Boredom in Class? Try 'outrageous' Instruction by: Stanley Pogrow. The article states that "We will not much progress in achieving educational equity until we develop better approaches for dealing with student boredom and resistance. But students access to on -demand entertainment has made it harder than ever for teachers to interest their classes -members of the youtube generation- in what they are being mandated to cover."
Although teachers are trying to create some interesting lessons, they must be aware that despite of their best ideas, some students may still perceive interesting lessons as boring. Both teachers and students must strive hard to be aware of boredom inside the classroom. According in the site even teachers have their skills in manipulating classrooms, showing content, and keeping the discipline of the students. The students are still bored! and even the teacher was tend to get bored in his own class, teachers are so disappointed because they are trying their best to give all knowledge to the students and yet the students are still bored.
As I search articles in website I found this article entitled Boredom in school and it's effects on your child's health made by Jenifer Fox, Author of Your Child's Strengths, speaker, school expert. The article surprises me, I was not aware that boredom can affect the child's health.
The article talks about the negative side effects of boredom to children who are inattentive in class and having a threat of consequences that can trigger them to be stress. According to the article "Bored students feel stressed when they are called on to answer the question of the teacher. and they haven't been listening." The battle on boredom that we feel while inside the classroom they tend us to do things that can activate our minds and it encourages our creativity and develops our imaginations like in drawing, doodling, paper folding, etc.
In the book Coping with Chronic Stress by Benjamin Gottlieb states that points to dozens of studies which demonstrates that under-activity in the brain may trigger a health threat by promoting atrophy of nerve cell in the hippocampus, a region of the brain that is important for spatial and verbal memory. I was just surprise when I read about young ones who complain boredom are trying to stay healthy.
According to Dr. Robert Sapolsky of Stanford University, when people experience too much stress the body releases a hormone called cortisol. When people experience prolonged stress, which can conceivably happen from the tension between the expectation to achieve and the reality that lack of stimulation is making it impossible to be attentive, their bodies may produce excess cortisol, causing it to cut back on its production of other hormones, such as testosterone. Without adequate levels of testosterone, it is impossible to maintain, let alone build, muscle. With this information, parents and teachers should take it responsibility to handle boredom specially with kids, they are not simply complaining, it signifies us that they do not feel challenged, and their brains are not activate in healthy ways.
